Location: Kampala (or other major Ugandan cities / national coverage)
About Us
Buconic Logistics is a fast-growing cargo logistics and transport company offering reliable domestic delivery and cross-border freight services. We specialize in helping businesses move goods within Uganda and across neighbouring countries with efficiency, transparency, and integrity. As we expand operations, we are looking for a driven Sales Representative to build our customer base, secure long-term contracts, and drive revenue growth.
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive, target-driven Sales Representative to identify, engage, and secure new customers — including companies, traders, manufacturers, import/export clients — for domestic delivery and cross-border cargo transport services. The ideal candidate will build and maintain strong client relationships, negotiate contracts, and work closely with operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & New Customer Acquisition
- Identify potential customers (businesses, traders, import/export clients) who need cargo logistics, domestic delivery or cross-border transport.
- Generate leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, market research, and direct client outreach.
- Develop and deliver compelling sales pitches presenting Buconic Logistics’ services tailored to client needs.
- Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and contract agreements.
- Negotiate rates, terms, and service-level agreements (SLAs) with new clients to close deals.
- Client Relationship Management & Account Growth
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, including key decision-makers.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients — understanding their logistics needs, addressing inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Conduct periodic reviews with clients to assess their evolving needs and propose value-added services.
- Upsell or cross-sell additional services (e.g. warehousing, customs handling, cross-border clearance if relevant).
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signing.
- Maintain and update the sales pipeline, leads, and client database using CRM tools or spreadsheets.
- Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to management (weekly/monthly/quarterly).
- Coordinate with Logistics, Operations, and Customer Service teams to ensure new clients’ freight is handled efficiently, delivered on time, and feedback is captured.
Market Analysis & Strategy
- Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor offerings, pricing, and regulatory environment (domestic transport regulations, cross-border documentation & compliance).
- Provide input and feedback to management on potential new markets, service offerings, and improvement of customer offerings based on client and market feedback.
Compliance & Documentation Support (as needed)
- Help clients understand required documentation for cross-border transport (customs clearance, export/import documentation, regulatory compliance).
- Ensure that signed contracts, service agreements, and quotations comply with company policy and any relevant regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, Marketing or related field — preferred but not strictly required.
- Prior experience (ideally 2–5 years) in sales, business development, account management — preferably within freight forwarding, logistics, transport or related sectors.
- Strong sales orientation: proven track record of generating leads, closing deals, and meeting/exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills — ability to build rapport with clients, understand their needs, and articulate service value.
- Strong customer-service mindset: responsive, client-focused, and committed to service excellence and satisfaction.
- Organizational, time-management and multitasking skills — able to manage multiple leads/accounts concurrently.
- Computer literacy: proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with CRM or logistics management systems is a plus.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently — but also collaborate well with operations, customer service, and management teams.
- Knowledge or interest in logistics operations, freight forwarding, cross-border transport processes, customs clearance and supply-chain fundamentals is a strong asset
Preferred / Additional Competencies
- Existing network or contacts within manufacturing, trading, import/export businesses, retail chains, or supply-chain stakeholders in Uganda and neighboring countries.
- Ability to travel within Uganda and across border routes as needed to meet clients and support operations.
- Fluency in local languages (Luganda, Swahili, etc.) and English, to communicate effectively with clients across different regions.
- Strong negotiating skills and ability to draft clear and professional contract proposals and SLAs.
- Problem-solving mindset — ability to foresee potential delivery or regulatory challenges and proactively address them with internal teams or clients.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to play a critical role in building and growing Buconic Logistics’ footprint in Uganda and across borders.
- Competitive base salary + commission / performance-based incentives (or other compensation structure — to be defined).
- Career growth potential: success in this role could lead to senior sales, account management or business-development leadership roles.
- Supportive operational, documentation and customer-service team
- • Exposure to cross-border trade logistics, freight forwarding, supply-chain operations — a dynamic, learning-rich environment.
