Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Trailer Truck Driver to operate heavy cargo trucks/trailers to transport goods domestically and across borders. The ideal candidate will ensure safe driving, proper cargo handling, compliance with road regulations and documentation requirements, and timely deliveries that meet client expectations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate company-assigned tractor-trailer or heavy trucks to transport cargo safely and efficiently across domestic routes and cross-border corridors.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle to ensure it is in proper working condition (tires, brakes, fluids, lights, load security, etc.) before departure and upon return.
- Secure and properly load, balance, and secure cargo according to safety guidelines to prevent damage or shifting during transport.
- Ensure compliance with all road and transport regulations, traffic laws, cross-border transport requirements (where applicable), and company policies while driving.
- Maintain accurate documentation for each trip — load manifests, delivery notes, vehicle logbooks (fuel use, mileage, maintenance), and any cross-border/customs documentation as required.
- Communicate with dispatchers, operations, and client contacts to coordinate pick-ups, deliveries, route planning, and any schedule changes or issues in transit.
- Ensure the cleanliness, maintenance, and readiness of the vehicle — both interior and exterior — including reporting any mechanical issues and ensuring timely servicing.
- Deliver cargo to specified destinations, ensuring safe unloading (or supervising where loading/unloading is done by others), and obtaining delivery confirmations from clients.
- Represent Buconic Logistics professionally when interacting with clients, border/customs officials, and other stakeholders — maintaining a strong safety- and service-oriented reputation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Valid driving license appropriate for heavy trucks/trailers — ideally equivalent to a “heavy goods” or commercial-vehicle license (for example, a valid local heavy-truck license).
- Several years of driving experience (ideally 3–5 years or more) with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating large trucks/trailers over long distances; familiarity with long-haul and cross-border transport preferred.
- Good understanding of basic vehicle maintenance, ability to identify mechanical issues, and willingness to report or carry out minor maintenance tasks/inspections.
- Ability to secure and handle cargo properly — ensuring weight distribution, load safety and adherence to safety practices.
- Strong time-management and route-planning skills; ability to plan efficient routes, adjust to road/traffic conditions, and meet delivery schedules.
- Good communication skills to liaise with dispatch, operations, and clients — especially for crossborder deliveries that may involve border/customs interactions.
- Physical fitness and stamina — ability to handle long-distance driving, loading/unloading as needed, and occasional manual tasks.
Preferred / Additional Competencies
- Prior experience with cross-border cargo transport (familiarity with border-crossing procedures, customs documentation, import/export paperwork).
- Basic literacy/numeracy — to manage logs, records, delivery notes, fuel and maintenance records.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, adapt to changing schedules/road conditions, and make safe decisions independently.
- Good knowledge of local/regional road networks and some navigation experience (GPS / maps
